Some facts about me:
GROWING UP ON LAPEER COUNTY FAMILY FARM
-

Lauren Hager of Port Huron
My Dad was a hard-working farmer in Northern Lapeer County who had the uncanny ability to get the most out of 80 acres and 25 dairy cows.
- My Mother, a loving farmer’s wife, could pinch pennies with the best of them while making delicious meals from a big garden, a small flock of chickens, and an occasional beef.
- I am a product of a home which centered around a deep Christian faith, hard work and unconditional love.
- My first eight years of formal education were at a one-room rural school a mile and a half walk from our home. I learned to appreciate nature during that daily walk to and from school.
- I graduated from Marlette High School where I enjoyed participating in Student Council, F.F.A., sports and an active social life. I kept myself in spending money by setting pins at the local bowling alley and Monday nights working at the Marlette stockyards.
- My two older brothers and I tested our dairy cows for butterfat content for a total of eleven years as a part of our high school agricultural class. Dad used this information as a basis for deciding which cows to cull and which ones to keep.
- My four years at Michigan State University was another step that shaped who I am today. Dorm life, fraternity involvement and struggles with calculus were a part of that.
MY LIFE IN ST. CLAIR COUNTY
- My 35 years of teaching in the Port Huron School District were rewarding. One of my special joys is
meeting former students who are happily involved in their own careers and families. - Being a part of my church family, serving on the Port Huron City Council and representing St. Clair County in the state Legislature have been other key highlights during my lifetime.
- A key decision of my life was to marry my high school sweetheart, Carol. She’s always been my rock, my helpmate, my sounding board, a terrific mom to our two kids. These 47 years with her have been great.
- My six years as a State Representative were filled with a few victories and yes, a few frustrations. There were enough areas of satisfaction to make me want to continue the process in our State Senate.

I am quite impressed with what I have read! Personally, I am graduating in May from Central Michigan University with a B.S. in Secondary Education. It is always nice to see conservatives who have dedicated their lives to educating future generations both in the classroom and within the community. Keep it up and you can count on a vote from this future teacher! Good Luck and God Bless!
Thank you for your kind comments. Best wishes as you enter the teaching profession. I’ve never regretted my decision to spend my professonal career working with kids. Thanks for your support of my Senate campaign. Appreciation, Lauren
